Your Post-AI Survival Guide

Everything You Need to Know to Prepare for the AI Revolution

Artificial intelligence is transforming the world faster than humans can comprehend. Nothing will ever be the same again. Here’s what you need to know not only to get by but to thrive in the new world that is emerging.

I don't think I'm being overdramatic in stating this, but most people have no idea what's coming. They still judge the capabilities of large language models based on free consumer-grade products.

But agentic AI is much more powerful than the tools we are accustomed to. Once perfected and able to manifest in the real world through robotic bodies, it will perform almost all of our work, AGI or not.

What You Don't Need Anymore

  • Remembering detailed information, as doctors do, will no longer be necessary. If your only skill is disciplining yourself to recite entire books, you have a problem.

  • Almost any work you do on a computer now will soon be taken over by AI agents. Once they are integrated into your operating system and learn what you do, they will handle operating complicated software for you.

  • Many scientists and journalists no longer conduct original research or investigations; instead, they discuss what others have discovered. In the future, their roles will no longer be necessary.

  • Once LLM-controlled humanoid robots start emerging from factories, much of the heavy lifting will be done by machines. Although this market is hard to predict and depends entirely on our progress in robotics, it is clear that, at some point soon, they will take over a significant amount of our work.

  • Artwork used for entertainment, advertising, and recreation will become 100% synthetic. The mass content industry will cease to exist, as everyone will be able to create their own entertainment on demand.

Avoiding Soft Skills Won't Be an Option

Everything you do is based on the inner workings of your own psychology. We have managed to ignore this for most of human history, but now it is no longer optional.

These machines are based on our cognition, history, and culture, and those who understand these aspects will be able to utilize them better than anyone else.

What You Need to Learn Immediately

  • Learn about psychology and communication. Read books, attend seminars, and apply these principles daily in your life.

  • Learn to meditate. Sit down and do nothing for an hour every day. If you can't manage that, you have zero control over your life and might as well be just another machine, driven by external forces and others prompting you.

  • Learn your history all the way back to the beginning. AIs are powerful not just because they can recite data, but because they've been fed our human concepts. You need to understand where these concepts originate from too.

  • Learn real art. Get yourself a mechanical camera and discover why it works. Dive into old books, study drama structure and storytelling. Master a musical instrument. Explore color palettes and ratios. Pick up a paintbrush.

These skills will be essential for guiding machines effectively, and those who grasp the deeper principles of art and culture will surpass those with mere technical skills. Understand how things work at their fundamental level; but avoid getting bogged down in details - that's what machines are for.
